Russia will take notice of Crimea Prime Minister Sergei Aksenov’s request, addressed to Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, to assist in the ensuring of peace and stability in the peninsula, the Kremlin staff stated.

Achange of power took place in Ukraine this past weekend, and presidential elections are designated in the country for May 25. Ousted President Viktor Yanukovych, however, stated that he continues to be the lawfully-elected President of Ukraine, and there are all the signs of a coup d’état in the country.

Official Moscow, on the other hand, questions the legitimacy of the recent decisions by the Verkhovna Rada (Supreme Council) of Ukraine, which is the country’s parliament.
