YEREVAN. – Armenia’s opposition National Self-Determination Union (NSU) Chairman, ex-presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan on Sunday was transferred to a medical center in capital city Yerevan.
Hayrikyan himself informed the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The NSU leader noted that there was pus below his waist and he had pains, but he was not paying attention to these symptoms.
Immediately after having been hospitalized on Sunday, the ex-presidential candidate underwent surgery in connection with the paraproctitis (purulent inflammation of the cellular tissues surrounding the rectum) that was diagnosed.
The doctor’s, however, cannot say for sure whether or not this complication is linked to the attempted murder against Hayrikyan on January 31, 2013.
“There are different views. They say the large amount of anti-inflammatory drugs, which I took, may be a factor,” the opposition leader said.
Paruyr Hayrikyan is transferred from the intensive care unit to a hospital room; he is in bed yet he feels relatively well. But it is yet unknown when he will be discharged from hospital.
