YEREVAN. – The National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Ad Hoc Committee on Gas Issues held its first meeting on Monday.
Gohar Poghosyan, Head of the NA Information and Public Relations Department, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
She informed that the committee comprises four MPs from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) NA Faction; one deputy from the coalition government’s junior member Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party Faction; two MPs from the non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party Faction; and one deputy, each, from the factions of the opposition Armenian National Congress, and the ARF Dashnaktsutyun and the Heritage Parties.
RPA MP Davit Harutyunyan was elected chairman of the committee.
The need for setting up such a parliamentary committee had risen following December 2, 2013, when Armenia and Russia signed natural gas agreements, and, as a result, several issued had risen among the Armenian society.
