YEREVAN. – The Nagorno-Karabakh (NK)-Crimea thesis is extremely harmful for Armenia’s domestic and foreign policy, since these two problems cannot be compared from the international perspective.
Opposition Free Democrats Party Vice-Chairwoman Anush Sedrakyan stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Monday.
As per Sedrakyan, the current developments unfolding in Ukraine also refer to Armenia because some Armenian analysts attempt to compare the situation in Crimea with that of the NK.
“It is known that each problem in the post-Soviet expanse is solved in an entirely different way,” she noted.
According to her, Russia has “started an absolute aggression” on the Crimea issue.
“This will become a cause for the diplomatic isolation of Russia. In this case, Armenia, together with the Customs Union—as a future member in the organization—, will be isolated, too.
“Aside from international isolation, we also can be isolated from the regional perspective,” Anush Sedrakyan maintained.
By the decision of the ex-Soviet central leadership, Crimea became a part of Ukraine in 1954, just as the Soviet leaders had included Nagorno-Karabakh in Azerbaijan in 1923.
