YEREVAN. – Ruling party MP believes Armenian channels can be allowed to show alcohol ads from 10p.m till 6a.m.
Samvel Farmanyan, MP from Republican Party of Armenia, presented amendments to the law on advertising.
“I think the bill will help channels to strengthen their financial position, and therefore it is better to take care of the quality of their programs,” he said addressing lawmakers on Monday.
Farmanyan believes advertising of alcohol will bring channels around 1 billion drams per year.
The exception, he added, can be done to promote the Armenian brandy, which will be broadcasted around the clock due to the importance of brandy industry for the economy and Armenia's exports.
In November 2013 the government narrowed tobacco advertising to specialized publications and tobacco stores only. Any other advertising is prohibited.
