YEREVAN. – There is new division of territories in the modern world that threatens to become a new geopolitical background that will affect Armenia, opposition MP said, addressing the lawmakers on Tuesday.

Armenia is the only regional state with a Russian military base and only Armenia is a member of CSTO, Alexander Arzumanyan said. This may become a threat to Armenia's statehood and independence.

“In this context, the Pan-Armenian National Movement believes Armenia must review the conditions of its CSTO membership, and reconsider presence of Russian military base,” he added.

Arzumanyan said deepening of Armenia-NATO relations is expedient, thanks to this “the country will be considered as an independent state in the region and international arena”.
