The government of Serbia refuses to support either Russia or Ukraine in Crimea crisis until the parliamentary elections in Serbia scheduled for March 16.

The Foreign Minister of Serbia Ivan Mrkic, who is in Yerevan on the occasion of the first Serbian-Armenian business forum, told Armenian News - NEWS.am that at the moment Serbia can only express general support to Ukraine. He told this in response to the question of Serbia’s position on the events in Ukraine.

“We have [parliament] elections on March 16. Until then, we can only express general support for a peaceful resolution of the dispute, in accordance with all relevant principles of international law,” Ivan Mrkic said.

Note that current ruling coalition in Serbian parliament consists of the Serbian Progressive Party and the Socialist Party of Serbia and both political forces mention European integration as their top priority.
