YEREVAN. – Armenian community of Ukraine is not indifferent about situation in  the country, Ambassador Ivan Kukhta said.

Armenia and Ukraine have always had friendly relations, the diplomat said, noting there is a large Armenian community in Ukraine.

“As of 2011 data, 120,000 Armenians live in Ukraine. The figure is two-three times higher now,” he emphasized.

The government is doing everything for development of ethnic minorities, including Armenians.

“The Armenian community is very active.  They are not indifferent about the fate of Ukraine,” he said, adding that tragic death of two Ukrainians of Armenian origin prove his words.

He said the Armenian side had already voiced its position: Armenia supports peaceful settlement of the crisis.

Ambassador does not think that further events will affect relations with Armenia. Ukraine has an intention to continue deepening of relations with Armenia regardless of the events. 

“I think Armenian side has the same position. Relations are good and tend to further improve,” Kukhta added.
