YEREVAN. – Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Mark Horton, Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Armenia.  

The interlocutors gave a high assessment to the ongoing bilateral cooperation, and expressed confidence that it will continue with success, the Armenian Government press service informed.

Horton congratulated the PM in connection with the IMF-approved new Extended Fund Facility worth $125 million.

“The IMF Board gave a positive assessment to Armenia’s track-record, the new program, and the future prospects. All the directors have expressed their support to Armenia,” the IMF official noted.

In turn, the Armenia PM expressed confidence that the approved new program will be successfully implemented just like the previous one.

Subsequently, the parties discussed the current economic conditions and possible developments as well as the ongoing reforms in Armenia.   

Horton stressed the importance of the pension reforms in Armenia, and expressed willingness to assist in this matter.

The parties exchanged views on regional developments. The IMF official noted that his organization stands ready to continue its assistance to Armenia in surmounting potential risks and challenges.

Tigran Sargsyan and Mark Horton also reflected on the avenues for improving the business climate in, and drawing investments to, Armenia.
