In his statement following the decision to suspend the process of ratification of the Armenian-Turkish protocols, RA President Serzh Sargsyan stressed his willingness to take advantage of the progress in the Armenian-Turkish dialogue to improve the bilateral relations. Germany welcomes Yerevan’s position, says a statement issued by German Ambassador to Armenia Hans-Jochen Schmidt and provided to NEWS.am.

Peace and mutual understanding is a key to friendly relations between states. Germany welcomes steps to improve relations the two nations have made over the recent months. Further normalization and reopening of borders would be a positive signal for the whole of South Caucasus. So Germany keeps on calling on both sides to continue their steps toward ratifying the Armenian-Turkish protocols. German public organizations and political foundations are ready to provide its support to the Armenia-initiated reconciliation process, says the statement.
