YEREVAN. – At this phase Armenia sees itself in the Eurasian space, in terms of civilizational ties and political culture.    
Coalition government’s junior member Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party (RLP) Vice-Chairman Mher Shahgeldyan, who is also Secretary of the RLP National Assembly Faction, noted the abovementioned at Friday’s international conference on Eurasia.

In his words, the Eurasian Union will enable Armenia to expand its traditional political and economic ties.

“Armenia develops its relations with its main strategic partner, Russia. [But,] at the same time, it collaborates with EU toward the reforms in the economic institutions, to raise the country’s competitiveness,” Shahgeldyan said.

He added that most Armenians abroad live in Eurasia (Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan) and, from this angle, Armenia conducts a balanced policy toward the development of ties with the Armenian diaspora.
