STEPANAKERT. – Robert Avetisyan, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Permanent Representative to the US, participated in a roundtable discussion on the Karabakh-Azerbaijan conflict.

The event was held at US Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and organized by students of the university’s Tavitian Scholars Program Class of 2014.

Prof. Michael Glennon, Prof. Alan Henrikson, Prof. Ruben Shugaryan as well as regional experts and students from the Fletcher School and several other universities attended the event titled “In Pursuit of Peace,” the NKR MFA press service reported.

The roundtable discussion was devoted to the 20th anniversary of the ceasefire between Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.

The discussants exchanged views on political, legal and humanitarian aspects of the conflict between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan as well as various geopolitical and regional developments.

In his remarks, Avetisyan stressed the importance of a comprehensive and a constructive negotiation process, restoration of NKR’s full participation in the talks, and implementation of confidence-building measures between the conflicting parties.

The NKR’s permanent representative to the US also offered ideas on the reinforcement of the ceasefire, and intensification of effective negotiations towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict with Azerbaijan.
