YEREVAN. – Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan visited Byureghavan orphanage on Friday.

The visit followed reports by Ombudsman's office and media articles telling about violations in the school.

Orphanage director and staff were present when representatives of the Ombudsman's office presented the detected violations, including brutal treatment and expired food.

“What will you do if your child were treated like this?” Hovik Abrahamyan asked the director of the orphanage. He said that those responsible must be identified and punished. “I will be strict and I plan to dismiss many people,” PM emphasized.

Abrahamyan also stressed that the problem would be under his personal control and instructed to take  necessary measures to avoid such cases.  Prime Minister got acquainted with the living conditions at the orphanage was in the dining room and talked to students .

Earlier it was reported that a group of state non-commercial organization circulated an open letter telling about violence against children and abuse by the director of the institution Gayane Margaryan.
