STEPANAKERT. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), or Artsakh, President Bako Sahakyan on Friday visited the NKR City of Shushi.
The President participated in the official unveiling of a memorial stone to one of the famous commanders of the Artsakh war, commander of the Shushi Defense Region, holder of the First Degree Battle Cross Order, Colonel Vachagan Ishkhanyan.
Sahakyan stressed the importance of immortalizing the memory of the active participants in the Artsakh Liberation War, both from political and ethical perspectives.
Subsequently, President Sahakyan partook in a regional administration meeting to sum up the activities of 2013, informed the Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President. Regional administration head Vladik Kasyan and the representatives of relevant departments delivered reports.
Bako Sahakyan considered the development of the Shushi Region and its administrative center, which has pan-Armenian significance, among the issues of utmost importance, and added that such an attribute requires an additional responsibility for the proper implementation of the planned activities.
