STEPANAKERT. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), or Artsakh, Prime Minister Ara Harutyunyan on Saturday met with a group of European and Spain Parliament deputies, who are visiting Artsakh at the initiative of the European Friends of Armenia (EuFoA) organization.   

The PM expressed a delight that the ties between the Basque people and NKR have become traditional, informed the NKR Government Information and Public Relations Department. Harutyunyan also stressed that the Basque country and Artsakh have a similar history.  

For his part, European Parliament (EP) member Iñaki Irazabalbeitia Fernández underscored their visit in terms of getting acquainted with Artsakh’s track-record and history. According to him, the self determination, rights, and solidarity of nations are the fundamental precepts upon which their relations need to be built. The EP deputy also expressed the hope that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be resolved pacifically and based on the principles of democracy, and that the foundations for cooperation with the EP will be laid in a foreseeable future.    

The interlocutors also conferred on the opportunities for economic cooperation, and agreed to deepen political and economic collaboration.
