YEREVAN. – National Assembly (NA) newly elected Speaker Galust Sahakyan on Monday visited the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, where he was received by Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II.

Congratulating Sahakyan on his election as parliament leader, Karekin II wished him a productive activity, the Mother See Information Services informed.  

Reflecting on the challenges facing the Armenian nation, the Catholicos expressed confidence that the new NA speaker and the MPs will ensure good results, and by way of legislative regulations, on the road to Armenia’s progress and building a dignified and prosperous life for the Armenian people.  

The interlocutors also conferred on relations between the Armenian Parliament and Apostolic Church as well as the Armenian Church’s role as a consolidating force. In this respect, the Catholicos expressed his appreciation to the effective cooperation between the Armenian Church and the National Assembly.

In turn, Galstyan highly appreciated the Armenian Church’s role in national life, and underscored the need to make joint efforts to surmount the challenges facing the Armenian nation.  

The Catholicos of All Armenians and the Armenian NA speaker highlighted the further collaboration between the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the National Assembly of Armenia.
