YEREVAN. – Former head of Armenia's department of corrections was sentenced to 12 years in jail.
Samvel Hovhannisyan was charged with masterminding a murder and a large scale fraud. Besides, the judge demanded that Hovhannisyan must pay 42 million to the injured party.
Colonel Hovhannisyan was the head of the department of corrections from 2001 to 2006.
