YEREVAN. – Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan met with a delegation led by Bernard de Wit, Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer at Amundi-ACBA Asset Management Company, which is one of the pension fund managers in Armenia.

The interlocutors discussed the course of the ongoing pension reforms in the country, and the drafting of the new legislative package based on the decision which the Constitutional Court of Armenia had reached on April 2.

On April 2, the Constitutional Court of Armenia declared unconstitutional a whole series of articles in the new Law on Funded Pensions, and gave the parliament and the government until September 30 to amend the aforesaid law’s provisions that were deemed unconstitutional.        

“We attach great importance to the implementation of pension reforms [in Armenia], and we will demonstrate a political will to successfully implement them. To this end, we will continue collaborating with the political forces and the civil society,” Abrahamyan noted. 

The PM also expressed confidence that Armenia will have a pension system that will be acceptable for a large cross-section of the people. 

For his part, Bernard de Wit likewise underscored the pension reform process in Armenia, and expressed their support for its successful implementation. He also noted that his company stands ready to collaborate with the Armenian government, in order to strengthen public confidence toward the pension reforms in the country.
