Turkish court sustained a claim of 312 generals demanding compensation from Vakit newspaper journalist Mehmet Dogan. The journalist should pay each general 2000 liras (about $400 000 in total), not including the interest of seven years.

The fine is to be paid on the grounds of the article titled “The country where people who cannot become corporals become generals” . Generals considered the article insulting and sued the daily in 2003.
