YEREVAN. – In April 2014, Armenia’s capital city Yerevan became a member in the Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI) international association, informed the Yerevan Municipality Information and Public Relations Department.

Around 1,000 municipalities and municipal organizations around the world are already members in ICLEI.

The international association is in pursuit of achieving tangible improvements in global sustainability through cumulative local action. 

ICLEI’s basic premise is that locally designed initiatives can provide an effective and cost-efficient way to achieve local, national, and global sustainability objectives.
