YEREVAN. – Suspect in a shooting near Yerevan open-air souvenir market has been detained. Gor Arakelyan is a son-in-law of Prosperous Armenia MP Karo Karapetyan.
An investigation revealed that the crime was committed by 29-year-old Gor A. The man who opened fire turned himself to police on Sunday. He presented the gun from which five people were injured.
As reported earlier, Armenian police reported about a shootout in the center of Yerevan on Saturday afternoon. Five people were injured and were immediately taken to the hospital. A criminal case on charges of illegal possession of arms and hooliganism was instituted.
According to some reports, the argument and a scuffle broke out because of a parking place. The son-in-law of the MP decided “to settle the dispute” by firing at offenders and passers-by.
