YEREVAN. – Armenian government will create a commission on Nairit chemical plant, PM Hovik Abrahamyan told reporters on Wednesday.

PM explained the commission will discuss whether the plant can be put into operation again. Abrahamyan said Rosneft has not abandoned an investment program on the plant, but the company's debt on wages makes $12 million.

“We are discussing the options with Energy Minister. He will provide a relevant program,” PM said.

Nairit was the only plant producing chloroprene rubber in the territory of the former Soviet Union. The representatives of Rosneft, Pirelli Tyre Russia and Rosneft Armenia companies signed a number of agreements on expanding cooperation, including a memorandum of understanding on setting up a joint venture on production of styrene-butadiene rubber.
