YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Armenia received an emergency call on Friday at 11.50pm.

Accordingly, an accident had taken place on the Ashtarak-Etchmiadzin motorway, and rescuer workers were needed.

A fire and rescue squad was dispatched to the scene, the MES Rescue Service informed.

It was found out that the incident had occurred nearby a restaurant, and there were injured people. A Mercedes and an Opel had crashed and fallen into the adjacent field. 

Prior to the firefighters’ and the rescue workers’ arrival on the scene, however, the Mercedes’ driver—A. M., 30—and the Opel’s passengers—P. S., 35, A. K., 26, and E. A., 40—were taken to the Vagharshapat City Medical Center, where E. A. died, whereas A. M. was transferred to Erebuni Medical Center in capital city Yerevan. 

The doctors say A. M.’s health condition is severe, whereas the others are in satisfactory condition.
