YEREVAN. – Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan expects a proactive foreign economic policy from the country’s diplomats. 

Abrahamyan noted the aforesaid at the assembly of the heads of the Armenia MFA administrative staff, diplomatic representations, and consulates.

The PM presented the government programs that are aimed at Armenia’s economic development.

“Armenia adheres to its commitments, and our political team manifests the necessary will and principles to ensure the fulfillment of Armenia’s international obligations,” Abrahamyan specifically noted.

In the Premier’s words, the Armenian government will deepen its active and proactive foreign economic policy, and its complementary relations with all partners. 

Hovik Abrahamyan also noted that the EU’s provision of a general system of privileges to Armenia will make the European markets more appealing for the Armenian exporters.

At the same time, as per the PM, Armenia’s integration in the Eurasian Customs Union will provide unique opportunities for the European investors to enter the Eurasian market via Armenia, and in a more facilitated manner.
“At present, the Armenian economy is more liberal and appealing for the foreign investors.

“A systematic work toward the development of relations with the international economic and financial institutions is a priority, too.

“Our economic picture with numerous friendly countries does not correspond to the level of the existing political relations. The diplomats’ targeted, systematic and consistent work is extremely important in this task,” the Prime Minister said, in particular.

According to the PM, it is indispensable to launch a cooperation whose results will become apparent in the near future, and the interregional cooperation programs are key elements.

He also assured that the Government of Armenia will create all the necessary conditions for increasing the effectiveness of these programs and the number of regional joint ventures.   

In Hovik Abrahamyan’s words, a new impetus must be given to the strengthening and expansion of Armenia’s foreign economic relations.
