Armenia's joining Eurasian Economic Union will require talks with WTO about compensations to the partners within trade organization, Russia's Deputy PM Igor Shuvalov said.

“If Armenia joins our format successfully and signs the agreement that is ratified, Armenia will have to start talks with WTO on compensation,” he said.

Shuvalov explained that Armenia will  have to join the common custom duties functioning in the territory of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. This will differ from Armenia's obligations within WTO, therefore the country will have start talks with partners, Interfax reported.

Russian officials said the main issues on Armenia's accession must be removed by the end of this week. As expected earlier, the treaty should be prepared for signing by July 1.

“The precise issues were discussed on Monday,” he added.
