YEREVAN. – The answers by Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev at PACE were not in favor of Azerbaijan, Armenian delegate said.

Head of the Armenian delegation Hermine Naghdalyan commented for Armenian News-NEWS.am on Aliyev's speech, adding that it damaged political image of the neighboring state. She noted that it would be wrong if Armenian delegates asked their questions, since the answers given to European parliamentarians showed “he is not an adequate person”.

“To ask question in such atmosphere meant to give another opportunity to manipulate public opinion and provoke regular regular propaganda performances. We do not believe that Azerbaijan is worthy of presiding over the Council of Europe. I must say that the behavior of the Azerbaijani president was unprecedented. For 10 years of work at PACE I do not remember any occasion when the president was using such language and raising voice at the delegates,” Naghdalyan added.

The tone of his statements was an attempt to threaten PACE deputies, she said, adding that Aliyev is using the chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers to settle scores with his opponents.

Speaking about casualties on the borders, Aliyev noted that OSCE Minsk Group often ask him this question.

“He admitted that the mentioned issue in fact is a subject of discussion,” the Armenian delegate emphasized.

Besides, Azerbaijani leader once again accused Armenia of non-constructive position. Meanwhile, Hermine Naghdalyan believes the world community is well aware which of the parties is displaying non-constructive approach.

"Aliyev clearly showed that Azerbaijan is a state that is trying to torpedo the work of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs,” she emphasized.

During the PACE session Azerbaijani leader accused Ireland's delegate Michael McNamara of biased approach. He claimed “there are no political prisoners in Azerbaijan” and went further by accusing UK delegate Paul Flynn of lying.
