Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr., co-chair of the Congressional Armenian Issues Caucus, hosted a farewell meeting with Tatoul Markarian, Armenia's Ambassador to U.S. on Wednesday.

Ambassador Markarian has been stationed in Washington for the last nine years, says the statement on Congressman's website.

“Ambassador Markarian has dedicated his life to public service and the people of Armenia. Throughout his tenure in Washington, he has been a powerful advocate for Congressional recognition of the Armenian genocide, and foreign aid assistance to both the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and Armenia,” said Pallone.

“I am proud of the work we have been able to accomplish with Ambassador Markarian. I wish Ambassador Markarian and his family well and I look forward to continuing the important U.S.-Armenian relationship with the next Ambassador for many years ahead,” added Pallone.

As reported earlier, Armenia's former Prime Minisetr Tigran Sargsyan has been appointed an ambassador to the United States.
