France, as a co-chairing country in the OSCE Minsk Group, participates in the mediation mission to find avenues for reconciliation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

French FM Laurent Fabius said the aforementioned at a briefing on Wednesday.

In response to a question on the risk of escalation of tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Fabius stated that France calls upon the parties to the conflict to refrain from making controversial statements, so as to build a climate of trust, and invites them to actively contribute to the creation of that climate.

Fabius also recalled that French President François Hollande, within the framework of his trip to the South Caucasus, had met with his Armenian and Azerbaijani colleagues, and to achieve progress in the Karabakh negotiation process and pacific settlement of the conflict.

To note, Hollande had suggested to set up a meeting in Paris between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
