Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy questions the objectivity of the forensic investigator who has accused him of corruption.

Sarkozy also stated that his detention on Tuesday aimed to humiliate him.

“I have never abused the trust of the French people. I’ve never committed an act contrary to the principles of the [French] republic,” the ex-president told TF1 television and Europe1 radio, RFI radio reported.

“Everything was done to form an untrue opinion about me. I’m appalled by what has happened and I don’t ask for any privileges.

“If I have made mistakes, I am ready to bear the burden of their consequences; I’m not running away from accountability,” Nicolas Sarkozy also said.
