YEREVAN. – Armenians and Kurds have a mutual interest in working together, political analyst Vahram Petrosyan said, commenting on the recent events in the Middle East.
As regards Armenia, according to him, for official Yerevan any successful implementation of the right to self-determination is strengthening of Nagorno-Karabakh's self-determination. In addition, the Armenian-Kurdish rapprochement will allow to deter anti-Armenian sentiments of Ankara.
The analyst is convinced no matter what relations Turkey and Iraqi Kurdistan will have, the process of Kurdish state's formation will be based on the Treaty of Sevres, which would be a good opportunity to once again raise the Armenian issue. Petrosyan believes Kurds have high hopes for the Armenian lobby in connection with recognition of a Kurdish state.
