The Institute of Armenian Studies, which was founded at the beginning of this year at the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, has begun its activities.   

In this connection, Armenia’s Ambassador to Romania Hamlet Gasparyan paid a visit to the university.

During his talk with University Rector, Academician Ioan-Aurel Pop, and Institute Director, Prof. Dr. Lucian Nastasă-Kovács, they discussed the avenues for the restoration of the traditions of Armenian Studies in Romania.     

Pop expressed willingness to collaborate with the educational and research institutions of Armenia. And as per Nastasă-Kovács, the mission of the aforesaid institute will be to become the Armenian Studies center of Central and Eastern Europe. 

On the same day, the Babeș-Bolyai University hosted a discussion, titled “From Armenian Genocide to [the Jewish] Holocaust,” in which Ambassador Gasparyan and Lucian Nastasă-Kovács also participated.   

While in Cluj-Napoca, the Armenian ambassador also visited the Armenian Union Centre of the city.
