YEREVAN. – President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, who is in Argentina on an official visit, on Monday met with Argentine Vice President Amado Boudou, who is also President of the Senate of Argentina.

Boudou expressed a delight that the Armenian President’s visit to the region has kicked off from Argentina, and he underscored the official signing of bilateral documents. He also praised the Armenian community of Argentina and stressed that the two peoples have warm and friendly ties. 

In turn, Sargsyan noted that this is the Armenian President’s third formal visit to Argentina and that this bespeaks the fact that the Presidents of Armenia have always stressed the importance of the development of relations with Argentina.   

But Sargsyan did not consider it a coincidence that Argentina is one of the largest investors in Armenia’s economy.

Furthermore, the President expressed his gratitude to Argentina for formally recognizing the Armenian Genocide bill, and he stressed that the genocide’s centennial will be marked next year throughout the world, including in Argentina.

At the end of the talks, several documents were signed on cooperation between the two countries and in a number of domains. 

On July 6, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan had met with Héctor Marcos Timerman, the Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs. They discussed the avenues for the development of Armenian-Argentinean relations. 

On the same day, Sargsyan also got together with renowned Argentinean-Armenian businessman Eduardo Eurnekian. 

On Monday, the Armeian President visited and laid a wreath to the monument of San Martín, a hero of Argentina’s fight for independence.
