YEREVAN. – Azerbaijani media once again distorted the statement by a representative of the Armenian side.

This time it was a statement by Karabakh war veteran, intelligence officer Vova Vartanov in connection with an Azerbaijani group neutralized in Karvachar Region.

Azerbaijani haqqin.az website quotes the remark by Vartanov that “the detained citizen of Azerbaijan Guliyev cannot be a saboteur”.

However, the following words are distorted. The website attributes the following statement to Vartanov: “He entered Kelbajar accidentally. The man of his age (born in 1968)  cannot be an intelligence officer. I am constantly training, but I will never be able to participate in an intelligence operation. I will not be able because of my age”.

In fact Vartanov said that the group, judging from weapons, age and means of communication, could hardly be a diversionary team.

“I think it was rather a partisan group of some terrorist organization. The aim of their “trip” was to get some political dividends,” Vartanov said.

In addition, he recalled that Armenian side also carried out partisan actions in Shaumyan region. He noted that Azerbaijan must be very cautious, as “if necessary we will reach Baku and the Caspian”.
