A law banning to conceal dual citizenship has come into force in Russia, RIA Novosti agency reported.
Russian citizen who acquired another citizenship in another country has to inform the federal migration service within two months from the date he received the second citizenship. In case of violation of the law a citizen is obliged either to pay a fine of up to 200 thousand rubles, or undergo compulsory work for a period of up to 400 hours.
Nevertheless, the procedure notifying the government about getting a second citizenship has not been finally determined. It is now known that a citizen can notify the federal service by mail.
Earlier, Russia's State Duma passed in the third and final reading a bill that proposes to introduce criminal liability for concealment of dual citizenship.
