YEREVAN. – The citizens of Armenia having dual citizenship will not be affected by new Russian law, head of migration service Gagik Yeganyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The citizens of Armenia having second citizenship simply have to inform about the second citizenship, and will not face further difficulties, Yeganyan said.

He dismissed rumors suggesting the citizens of Armenia will have to reject the Armenian citizenship.

“This means that our citizens should simply inform that they have dual citizenship. And if a citizen of the Republic of Armenia lives here and also has Russian citizenship, he must inform the authorities of the Russian Federation,” the official explained.

As reported earlier, a law banning to conceal dual citizenship came into force in Russia on Monday.
