YEREVAN. – Armenia's union of war veterans expressed readiness to send groups of volunteers to the border with Azerbaijan to come on duty together with the soldiers, the union said in a statement.

“Taking into account the recent intensification of attacks by the enemy in the contact line on the borders of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh and to ensure security in the border areas of the Republic of Armenia and NKR, the union veteran liberators is ready to send 350-400 fighters to Tavush Region to carry out the duty,” the statement reads.

The union has already addressed Defense Ministry for permission.

The situation has been tense at the line of contact and on the border over recent days. Azerbaijani side had 25 killed and 30 injured. Five Armenian soldiers were killed while repelling the acts of sabotage by Azerbaijan. Hundreds of Armenian volunteers have already left to protect the border.
