YEREVAN. – Azerbaijani side will try to distort facts about the reasons of recent tension on Armenia-Azerbaijan border and the line of contact, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said on Wednesday.

According to information by the Defense Minister, Azerbaijan are preparing brochures about “Three-day war”, and are trying to show the strength of their army.

“They will try to deceive their own people,” he said.

Asked about possibility of large-scale hostilities and interest of the third parties in deepening tension, Minister Ohanyan said the region is complicated, and there is a clash of interest. However, the situation is not such that the third forces would like to increase tension, on the contrary they will try to reduce it.

However, he noted that the Armenian side acts guided by the principle “If you want peace, prepare for war”.

“Analysis of the situation shows that the collision could escalate into local clashes, but the likelihood of war is small,” Minister said, stressing that the Armenian army and the people must always be ready to perform duty with honor.

According to him, Azerbaijani leadership's statements on large military budget and purchased weapons does not mean that the army masters the weapons.

“Experience shows that Azerbaijani soldiers do not master the purchased weapons, and moreover are inferior in terms of training. This is proved by the fact that Azerbaijani saboteurs specially trained in neighboring countries find demise while performing the task,” he concluded.
