YEREVAN. – The Nature Protection Ministry of Armenia has conducted work to cut back on the unnecessary use of 11 million cubic meters of artesian water per year.

Minister of Nature Protection, Aramayis Grigoryan, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Monday, summing up the results of his one-hundred days in office as minister.

The government is following up on the closure of illegal artesian wells and it has allocated money for that objective, the minister added.

“We already have closed several wells with a total debit of 340 liters per second, or 11 million cubic meters per year. Our people continue their work,” Aramayis Grigoryan stated.

As per the minister, about forty other such wells are planned to be closed in the coming months.
