About a week ago, the residents of Azerbaijan’s Mezem village, which is in close proximity to Berkaber village of Armenia’s Tavush Region, placed a white flag near the village.

Berkaber prefect Artur Madatyan told the aforementioned Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

“A week ago, the Mezem residents were in a panic, they had fled the village, [and] solely dogs and cats were left in the village. They have returned yesterday [Monday] and hung a white flag near the entrance of the village, which [the flag] can bee seen clearly from here,” Madatyan said.    

He noted that the residents of this Azerbaijani village are always in a state of panic.

“We love our land, water; that’s what they are afraid of,” Artur Madatyan added.

There are 538 people living in Berkaber.
