Russia will soon hold a second round of talks between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, since Moscow needs to achieve a lot in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement process. 

Christopher Langton, who is Head of the Independent Conflict Research & Analysis (ICRA) center in the United Kingdom, told the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

As per the analyst, the trilateral talk, which was held in Sochi, Russia, on August 10 between the Armenian, Russian, and Azerbaijani presidents—Serzh Sargsyan, Vladimir Putin, and Ilham Aliyev—, gave one important result: a consensus that the talks need to continue. 

“The presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan also assured that the conflict cannot be resolved by military means.

“Given these results, it would have been easy to say that the meeting in Sochi is a positive step, and it is to some extent.

“In any case, the meeting in Sochi can become another lost opportunity for Yerevan and Baku,” Langton argued.  

But at the same time, according to him, the intensity of the ceasefire violations will reduce in the Karabakh conflict zone.
