YEREVAN. – UK will not allow a large-scale war to break out in the Karabakh conflict zone, former Ombudswoman Larisa Alaverdyan said commenting on the recent escalation at the line of contact.

She explained that London, in the name of British Petroleum, considers Azerbaijan a gas and oil field, while destabilization in the Karbakh conflict area will first of all affect UK's economic interests.

Earlier the UK Foreign Office expressed concern at recent violence around Nagorno-Karabakh and called to take immediate action to reduce tensions and respect the 1994 ceasefire agreement.
