YEREVAN. – The aggravation of the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone was in the interests of the West, and first and foremost, of the US, and in order to distract Russia from Ukraine.
Russian military analyst Vladimir Yevseev stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Thursday.
“Russia has nothing to do with the aggravation of the situation. Russia has not supplied the arms that were used between the conflicting [Armenian and Azerbaijani] parties during these most recent events. The both sides have used large-diameter machine guns,” Yevseev stressed.
In his conviction, with these latest military operations, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev hoped to intimidate Russia.
“Azerbaijan’s actions were aimed at checking Russia’s response. They [Azerbaijan] hoped that the US will turn a blind eye to all this, but it didn’t work,” the military analyst noted.
As per Vladimir Yevseev, the US is a foreign player, whereas Russia is a regional player in the region.
