YEREVAN. – Abdullah Gul may claim for the post of a prime minister, Armenian turkologist Ruben Melkonyan believes.

This can be explained by Abdullah Gul's recent decision to return to the Justice and Development party, he said. However, the expert noted that under current laws Gul still can not hold the post of the head of government, and probably before the 2015 parliamentary elections Ahmet Davutoglu will serve as an Acting Prime Minister.

Mekonyan does not rule out that unless Gul becomes a PM, he may leave the ruling party and form a separate political force to consolidate those dissatisfied with Erdogan's policy that will become a serious threat to sole power of the Justice and Development Party.

Last week Turkish president Abdullah Gul said that he intends to return to the ruling party after August 28.
