Armenia’s consulate in Kyrgyzstan is ready to help with evacuation of Armenians wishing to leave the country. The consulate has no information about Armenians injured in Kyrgyz clashes. “The consulate intends to make an announcement in local press, saying it is ready to evacuate Armenians,” a consulate representative told NEWS.am.

Georgia and Turkey have already started evacuating their citizens from Osh, where interethnic violence involving Uzbek and Kyrgyz residents has continued for several days. According to evacuated Georgian citizens, the number of victims is more than officially reported. They speak of 3,000 killed in the ethnic violence.

Official sources reported 187 victims. June 16 has been announced a day of mourning in Kyrgyzstan.

June 12, the head of the interim government Roza Otumbayeva appealed to Russia for peacekeeping assistance. After a special sitting of the CSTO National Security Secretaries, the CSTO member states announced their intention to send planes and military transport to stabilize the situation in the south of the country.
