The Armenian authorities never make right steps in time - only when pressured, Vahan Hovhannisyan, Head of the ARF parliamentary faction, told journalists, speaking of the TV and radio bill and of its possible impact on the discussions of Armenia-related issues by the PACE Monitoring Committee.

He pointed out that the ARF faction voted against the bill. As to whether RA President Serzh Sargsyan will respond to the appeals for sending the bill back to Parliament made by OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic and by Human Rights Watch, Hovhannisyan said: “Certainly not. But he will take it into account.” The ARF member believes the bill will have its influence in PACE as well.

“Our MPs will wage a heroic struggle to overcome the obstacles. And only this autumn everyone will understand they committed a blunder. But the one guilty will never be punished. No one will slap him in the face and say: ‘You idiot, what kind of bill did you introduce!?’ And then we will have to correct the mistakes,” Hovhannisyan said. He added that the Armenian authorities correct their mistakes only when they see they do not remain unnoticed.
