YEREVAN. – The Nagorno-Karabakh issue has neither a military nor a juridical solution, sociologist Aharon Adibekyan stated at a press conference on Wednesday.

In his words, the Karabakh conflict cannot be resolved juridically because the parties to the conflict are basing themselves on two different yet viable juridical norms: the precepts of peoples’ right to self-determination, and territorial integrity.

As per the sociologist, the Karabakh conflict can be settled solely on the basis of goodwill.

“Armenia should withdraw from the negotiation process. Armenia’s sole function shall be to prevent a military solution to the Karabakh issue.

“Azerbaijan [, on the other hand] is afraid to look upon the Karabakh issue as an ethnic clash, since, in this case, the problems of the Talish, the Lezgins [living in Azerbaijan] can emerge, and [as a result, Azerbaijan President Ilham] Aliyev will not succeed in presenting Azerbaijan as a single national state,” Aharon Adibekyan stressed.
