Following the statutory six-month accession procedure, Armenia has finally become the 46th member state in the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), informed the Viti monthly.

OIV Director General Jean-Marie Aurand praised the Armenian government’s decision to join this organization, and indicated that the country’s membership will be made official at the OIV General Assembly that will be held in Argentina on November 14.

As the Armenian Minister for Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan had recalled during his meeting with Aurand last April, the vitivinicultural sector of his country has seen significant growth, with development and awareness on an international level being part of a strategic government plan.
