YEREVAN. – A total of 143 laws were passed during the Fifth Sitting of the Fifth Convocation National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, and 136 of these laws were introduced by the Government, whereas only seven were the initiatives of the MPs.

NA Legislative Activity Monitoring project manager Lusine Vasilyan stated the aforementioned at a press conference on Friday, as she presented the report on the monitoring results of this sitting.

In her words, even though the aforementioned is not a new trend, the respective ratio is new, since the ratio of the previous NA sitting was 87/13, against the 95/5 of the Fifth Sitting.

“Now, the NA proactiveness has dropped by up to 5 percent,” Vasilyan stressed.

As per the expert, however, this time the Armenian parliament has registered a record in the ratio of laws that were passed during special and regular sessions. Accordingly, more than half (77) of the laws were passed during special sessions.
