Austrian journalist Jutta Bauer, who is accompanying Austria’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Integration, Sebastian Kurz, in his visit to the South Caucasus, was not issued an Azerbaijani visa.
The Die Presse reporter was issued visas solely to Armenia and Georgia, Der Standart reported, as the Azerbaijani embassy refused to issue her a visa.
Azerbaijan based its reason not to issue Bauer a visa on the fact that she is in the Azerbaijan MFA “black list” of those people who have visited Nagorno-Karabakh without Azerbaijan’s permission.
The journalist’s colleagues also link this incident to the fact that Bauer has angered the Azerbaijani authorities because of her criticism of this country.
The matter was not resolved even by the mediation of the Austrian secretary of state, the Austrian Press Agency reported.
At the same time, the Austrian press reported that Sebastian Kurz will raise this matter in Baku, and within the framework of the problems concerning freedom of speech in Azerbaijan.
