YEREVAN. – The Armenia constitutional reform project envisions a facilitation in conducting referendums in the country.
Gevorg Danielyan, a member of the Special Committee on Constitutional Reforms, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Tuesday.
He noted that the draft document stipulates that if Armenia joins organizations that curtail the country’s sovereignty, this matter can be put to a referendum, and the political forces are in accordance with this provision.
In Danielyan’s words, the constitutional reforms also may refer to the judicial system in Armenia. Even though the majority of the committee members prefer the current three-tier judicial system, there is a proposal to switch to a two-tier system.
The matter of introducing the institution of juries is discussed, too.
The committee, however, considers the introduction of the institution of recalling MPs to be unacceptable.
